The Limestone County Commission will hold a public hearing on October 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Clinton Street Courthouse Annex (100 South Clinton Street, Athens, AL) to discuss the County’s submission of an application for Community Development Block Grant Economic Development (CDBG-ED) and Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) funding to support wastewater system improvements at Pryor Regional Airfield. The Commission is interested in obtaining all citizens’ input on the proposed project. The wastewater system improvements will support an aviation-related business locating at the airfield and creating 250 new jobs within Limestone County.
The total project cost is estimated at $2,477,530.00. The proposal will request grant funds in the amount of $1,000,000.00 from CDBG-ED and $1,000,000.00 from ARC. The project, if funded, will benefit residents of Limestone County by enabling an industry to locate at Pryor Airfield and create 250 new jobs. All citizens, including those in the project area, are encouraged to attend in order to comment on the proposed activities.
