The Animal Care & Control department receives calls for assistance from the general public, various agencies, and county departments. All calls are responded to, and appropriate follow-up action is taken as required. Animal Control duties also include maintenance on animal cages, keeping cages in an acceptable state of cleanliness, and maintaining reports of calls and equipment on loan.

The mission of the Limestone County Emergency Management Agency is to coordinate mitigation and preparedness activities prior to a disaster and to coordinate response and recovery efforts in the event of a disaster in Limestone County.
The Office of License Commissioner is responsible for the issuance of certain business and professional licenses, motor vehicle licenses, motor vehicle titles, temporary tags, motor vehicle and boat casual sales and use taxes, drivers’ licenses, and conservation licenses. The Office is also responsible for the assessment and collection of ad valorem and casual sales and use tax on motor vehicles.
The Limestone County Parks and Recreation Department has lots to offer for campers as well as trail lovers. The County offers camping at Cowford Campground, located on the beautiful Tennessee River. We also have our Rails to Trails area which has ten miles of trail for biking, walking, and equestrian lovers.
The numerous duties of the office are assigned by the Code of Alabama, 1975. By law, the Judge of Probate is also the chief election officer for Limestone County.
The Limestone County Recycling Program began on April 3, 2023. Recyclable materials can be dropped off at 1301 N. Jefferson St. Please see the Recycling Department page for a list of accepted materials.
