Judge Doug Patterson was born in Athens and attended Athens High School. He later graduated from Athens State University and the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
He is married to the former Heather Wilder, also of Athens. They have three children.
Judge Patterson serves on the boards for CASA and The Arc of Alabama-Birdie Thornton Center. He is also a volunteer for both Hospice of Athens-Limestone County and the Athens Community Council on Aging.
Judge Matt Huggins was born and raised in Athens and graduated from Athens Bible School. He received his B.A. Degree in History from Auburn University and his law degree from Jones School of Law at Faulkner University.
His Judicial responsibilities include:
- All civil actions not exceeding $10,000.00, exclusive of interest and costs
- Preliminary hearings in felony cases
- Felony Drug Court
- State Trooper, Conservation, and Marine Patrol cases
Judge Huggins served for 6 years as an assistant district attorney in the Limestone County District Attorney’s Office until his election to the office of District Judge of Limestone County in 2016.
